Pixels to Pictures

'The possibilities are endless. You are not limited in how you can put your skills to the test.'

Course Description

We live in a world of digital photos. In this course you will work with digital images, understand their components and transform them using MATLAB to make your own digital story. Learn the basics of programming to not only build GIFs and create collages but also understand how color filters and face masks are applied in popular apps. No prior knowledge of programming or image processing is required.

Key Topics: Digital Images • MATLAB Programming • Vectors & Matrices • Color Filters

Primary Colors In a Digital Image

Primary Colors In a Digital Image

Primary Colors In a Digital Image

Students explore the three colors – red, blue and green – that compose all other colors and use MATLAB to create their own colors by adjusting the magnitude of each primary color.

Creating and Indexing Vectors and Matrices

Creating and Indexing Vectors and Matrices

Students represent pixels in MATLAB using vectors and matrices making them easier to manipulate using a programming language.

Apply Custom Masks on Images
