Think about the highlights of your own education. Who were the people, the projects, the classmates that made your own learning most meaningful and memorable? What were the parts that got in the way of that learning? Now think of how we can create more of the meaningful and reduce the impediments in our own classrooms.

i2 Full Year is an opportunity for all of us to reimagine education. In answering the questions above we came up with three guiding principles:

  1. Children are naturally curious and like to learn. To leverage those natural instincts we need to make learning engaging, relevant, and increasingly self-directed.

  2. We are social beings who enjoy and need to be with other people. We need to work collaboratively with classmates not alone in silos or only one-on-one with teachers or computer screens.

  3. The skills needed to be successful in today’s rapidly changing world are different than those needed in the past. We need a new set of desired student outcomes, not simply higher standardized test scores.

We hope that these ideas are consistent with your own experiences and outlook as they are at the core of the program we are developing.

We look forward to working with you over the next two years to imagine a new classroom, culture, and set of norms, to inspire a new generation.
