Based on the success of the program in 2018, Newark STEM Week will be returning for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from June 3 – June 10, 2019 (no STEM Week programming on June 4).
Prior to leading Newark STEM Week, teachers will attend a two-day professional workshop in interdisciplinary STEM curriculum and project-based pedagogy.
On the last day of Newark STEM Week, students will present their projects and discuss their learning from the week at a showcase to which friends, family and other community members will be invited.
To be clear, the Newark STEM Week courses will replace all regularly scheduled classes at schools who are participating in the program. This curriculum is designed to be run the entire day, not simply during science class.
Professional development will be open to middle school teachers from all subject areas.
Teachers who attended Professional Development for Building a Lunar Colony previously do not need to attend again this year. All other teachers are required to attend professional development in Newark on May 29 & 30, 2019.

All curriculum, materials and supplies necessary for these courses will be provided to the schools by i2 Learning.
